Senator Tuaolo Vaivao Manaia Fruean will return as senator for Ma’oputasi District when the new Legislature is sworn in next year.

“I feel good, everything is fine,” Tuaolo told Samoa News yesterday when asked about his feelings towards the decision.

The Pago Pago village council of chiefs unanimously selected Tuaolo yesterday during a to’ana’i held at Mauga’s guesthouse.

The former Associate Judge is not new to the Fono. He served as senator for Ma’oputasi once before, followed by a term as Commissioner of the Department of Public Safety.

It was when Paramount Chief Mauga Tasi Asuega was appointed by Governor Lolo Matalasi Moliga nearly two years ago to head the Office of Samoan Affairs, that Tuaolo was selected to continue Mauga’s term.

With his selection yesterday, Tuaolo will take up the Ma’oputasi senatorial seat for the next four years.

He spoke of the need to work together and thanked the people of Tutuila and Manu’a for letting their voices be heard during last week’s general election, adding that there is much to be done.
