NZ provides Samoa with narcotics dog training

Customs officer Robert Pitoitua headed for New Zealand this week to attend a six week Narcotics Detector Dog Training course in Wellington.“When the course is completed, Robert will have developed specialist knowledge and skills. This will include the ability to care for and deploy an operational narcotics detector dog to target narcotic odours, which will support Samoa’s efforts to detect and prevent illegal drugs at the border” said Superintendent Ross Ardern, the New Zealand Police Liaison Officer based in Apia.Samoa Customs already have a narcotics detector dog that has been trained by New Zealand Police and the additional training that Officer Pitoitua will receive will maximise the capability of the dog when it is deployed.
