The Department of Public Safety has placed in custody several juveniles in connection with the burglary of the Pacific Sales Warehouse in Tafuna two weeks ago. The arrests were made over the weekend, and a government official told Samoa News there are two adults involved, aside from the juveniles in this matter.

It’s alleged the mastermind behind all three burglaries is an 18-year old who is allegedly involved in all three burglaries. The government official, who spoke on condition of anonymity, because the investigation is still underway, said that criminal charges might also be filed against a mother who received the stolen items that were removed from the warehouse.

Police were able to recover some of the stolen items and also confiscated items that were bought with the cash that was stolen from the warehouse — some $4,000 in cash is alleged to have been stolen.

Last week the owner of the company sought help from the public, when Theresa Steffany offered a cash reward for anyone with information on the culprits who burglarized the warehouse.

Steffany told Samoa News last week that her company’s warehouse had been burglarized three times within two weeks. The business woman said when their warehouse was broken into, the thieves had removed cash, beer, cigarettes, phone cards, clothes and other items. She said it’s not clear at this time the value of the items that were removed from the warehouse, which did not include the  $4,000 cash that was stolen.

She said that aside from their warehouse being broken into, their main office was also ransacked. She told Samoa News the culprits entered the building by breaking down the main door.

It’s unknown at this time, if the reward offered by Steffany played a role in the suspects being taken into custody.
