Meth found in two separate packages at US Post Office yesterday

Detectives with the Vice and Narcotics Division arrested two men and a woman in two separate drug cases, uncovered at the US Post Office when they claimed their packages yesterday afternoon.

The first drug case was reported to police around noon yesterday, when, during Customs Agents procedural checks they came across a substance which later tested positive as methamphetamine, with an estimated street value of more than $5,000.

Samoa News understands a female came to claim the package and then her brother came along. Currently, they are both being held at the Tafuna Correctional Facility for 48 hours pending criminal charges being filed.

The second drug case occurred two hours after the first, where a man claimed a box that contained ten medium sized plastic bags of white substance that later tested positive as methamphetamine, with an estimated street value of $3,000. This man was also arrested and is being held at the TCF for 48 hours to see if the government will be filings criminal charges in this matter as well.

Commissioner of Public Safety William Bill Haleck, told Samoa News he was unaware of the details of these matters, however he confirmed that the Vice and Narcotics Detectives are working on a drug case at the US Post Office.
