Shoreline work in Aua nearly done

Rock revampment work in Aua village is ongoing and will be completed soon. Local contractor, Happy Trucking and Construction based in Futiga, is carrying out the project. Once completed, the area will be similar to the Amaluia village shoreline where flat rocks, not cement, are used.

The project extends from the sami side area between the bus stop next to the Tilei residence and JS Mart. The Federal Highway Administration is funding the work and is one of the three projects listed under the Aua Shoreline Protection Program.

The Department of Public Works is overseeing the work.

A DPW official explained that rock revampments can’t be carried out everywhere, as it takes up a lot of the beach area.

The other two projects on the list include a retaining wall at the Aua bridge, and shoreline and drainage work next to the Paepaeulupo'o boatshed.

All three projects are expected to be completed within 270 calendar days from start to finish.
