Faleomavaega to be moved from Tripler to the U.S.

Congressman Faleomavaega Eni is scheduled to be moved next week from Tripler Army Medical Center in Honolulu to the mainland for further rehabilitation, his office said in a statement yesterday, while emphasizing that the congressman is expected to make a full and complete recovery.

Faleomavaega was medivaced late last month to Tripler for further evaluation after arriving on island and being admitted to the LBJ Medical Center for three days, for an illness that his office has yet to make public.

Faleomavaega’s chief of staff for the local District Office, Faiivae Alex Godinet said the Congressman is expected to make a full and complete recovery, thanks to the support and prayers of the people of American Samoa and all those who love him.

“Since being at Tripler, the Congressman has made significant progress in his recovery, although there were times when we were unsure of how this would all turn out,” said Faiivae in a statement yesterday morning.

“He will be moved from Tripler next week, and will return to either Utah or Washington DC, as he undergoes further rehab,” he said.

Faiivae emphasized that the Congressman’s office will remain fully operational and will continue to function under the guidance of Faleomavaega.

“At such time when Faleomavaega is receiving visitors, he looks forward to meeting with Governor Lolo Matalasi Moliga,” said Faiivae.  “The Governor has expressed his love for Faleomavaega, and Faleomavaega has also asked that we send his love to the Governor and to the people of American Samoa and to all those who have assisted in his recovery.”

The Congressman, his staff, and his family express their deepest thanks and gratitude for the outpouring of love “we have received during this very difficult period,” he said.

“We thank everyone for their support and prayers and, above all, we thank God who looks down from the heavens upon all the inhabitants of the earth.  We thank God for watching over Faleomavaega,” Faiivae concluded.
