Nearly a decade after she first dabbled in the business world, Alice Soa Asalele is celebrating the first year anniversary of her very own store front: Locally Yours by Alice, on the Nuuuli main road, next to Tofaga Malu.

One step inside Locally Yours and shoppers will be taken by the many beautiful colors and trendy styles of clothing and fabric, which are all elei printed and sewn locally.

In celebration of their anniversary, Locally Yours is offering 10%-15% off selected items. Usually, Asalele doesn’t sell her prints unless you buy a ready-made item. But for this month only, prints are being sold for a discounted price of $12 per yard.

Browse through their unique selection of island-inspired jewelry, accessories, elei sarongs, aloha shirts, hipster tops, dresses and t-shirts. And don’t worry about not being able to find anything that fits. Locally Yours offers plus sizes for full-figured Samoan ladies.

Right now, t-shirts are priced to sell: as low as $10 for a custom elei printed v-neck shirt that can be dressed down with leggings or dressed up with a nice pair of capris or a skirt, and some accessories.

Gorgeous dresses, trendy puletasi, fashionable blouses, colorful sarongs, and cool cowl neck tops hang from the racks and any one of them will make the perfect holiday gift.

Aloha shirts for men are also available in different sizes and colors.

Don’t fret if you can’t find anything that suits your needs because there is fabric in stock so you can create and design your own pattern.

Asalele thrives on offering items found nowhere else on island. Her designs are created with the understanding that different people like different things.

She says she does her best to make sure her shelves are stocked so there is  something for everyone.

Asalele started off in the business world by helping out with her sister Tai’s store (Steven and Sons) when it was located in Pago Pago.

Afterwards, Asalele operated a concession stand inside the PX in Tafuna before she delved into cyber world and launched her own website. Before she opened the doors of Locally Yours in Nuuuli last December, Asalele was taking orders online and fulfilling them for customers from all different walks of life and all over the world.

Most of her local clientele, she said, are referrals from her off-island customers who are so satisfied with their online purchases that they end up recommending Locally Yours to their relatives who live here.

“Some of my customers walk in and tell me that they heard about my shop from a relative or friend off-island,” Asalele said. “Every time I hear that, it just feels good, knowing that I have happy customers all over the place.”

Asalele started her business at home and worked from there for a while because “it was really hard trying to find a good place to open my store.”

Now with a store front, Asalele devotes most of her time and energy to her business, building up Locally Yours so it can become bigger and better— “one customer at a time”.
