Remembering You

by Carol Baqui

(A tribute to all the soldiers especially to my only sister and cousins serving in the U.S. military.)

You chose the red, white and blue

Colors of freedom, colors of hope

You made a choice to sacrifice your life for mine

You traveled a thousand miles to perform your duties while your family remains behind

Day and night prayers are deliberated

Remembering you at all times and all the soldiers on duty across the world

Sometimes parents ask the question, Why?

But it was your desire to make a difference and to know you gave it a try

Every time you roll right or roll left, running a 2 or 4 mile in the hot sun, rain or snow

Remember that in the end you will reap what you sow

Don't forget your 7 core values and Soldier's decree

Hold it close to your heart because the truth will set you free

Your helping hands serve million of lives whom suffers daily overseas

But a credit to my peace and freedom on greener pastures in the U.S. and its' Territories

Your family, friends, and community are praying for you

Be safe and THANK YOU for doing what you do.
