"AG SHOULD LOOK INTO COMPTROLLER'S CLAIMS"

Dear Editor,

The article in your last Friday's issue citing the resignation by the ASG Comptroller, the reasons behind his resignation and especially his request for the federal government to look into corruption in the government of American Samoa were somewhat strong and embarrassing.

I think the Attorney General should take a close look into these allegations and undertake proper actions including ascertaining whether they are true or not. The Attorney General should also undertake proper action to include prosecution.

I suggest the Attorney General should move into action. This will show to the federal government that we are handling the matter in an appropriate way, instead of placing them under the mat as was done in the past. The Attorney General should take action, and if he determines that he has a conflict of interest, he should appoint another attorney to handle the matter and stay away.

An alternative: for the Fono to promulgate appropriate legislation calling for a special prosecutor to proceed into taking proper actions including prosecuting the wrongdoer(s) in this so-called corruption. This is perhaps the proper action by the Fono in their Special Session. The image of the American Samoa Government in Washington D. C. and the whole United States as well as our neighboring islands is that all Samoans are just crooked and our credibility is down and perhaps at nil.

"MINISTERS STILL RULE"

Dear Editor,

Just want to add my two cents to something that is more evil than the devil himself. I have forgiven but I can't forget. To this day I still can see my mom crying when I asked her for school supplies and she replies that the only money left is the monthly donations for the church and the MINISTER. Well it looks like that tradition is alive and well world wide. Now they are getting in the way of the service members who are serving to defend the right to vote?

Wow! Good luck American Samoa!

"THANK YOU"

Dear Editor,

I like to express my deep gratitude for the impressive assistance I got after I fell ill on the Island of Ta'u. First of all I would like to thank Mrs. Pu'a Filoiali'i, LVN, of the Ta'u Dispensary who attended me with great and excellent care on Ta'u and arranged for the ambulance service on Tutuila.

Mrs. Lealofi Imo-Filoiali'i of Inter Island Vacations is thanked for arranging for a seat on the plane to Tutuila. Dr. Ivan and the medical staff at the Emergency Room (ER) of the LBJ Tropical Medical Center are greatly thanked for their excellent medical and administrative assistance and the crew of the EMS ambulance of the LBJ Ambulance Service for their quick service.

I also like to thank Mr. Tufele Li'amatua, District Governor of Manu'a, for his immense help and support in both administrative and immigration matters.

Last but not least I am deeply indebted for the great hospitality and aid I received from Mr. and Mrs. James and Meleagi Chapman during my stay in Ta'u.
