Territory gets $20.4 MIL to fund rebate payments
U.S. Treasury Secretary Henry M. Paulson Jr. yesterday informed Gov. Togiola Tulafono that American Samoa will receive $20.4 million under the federal economic stimulus law. (read more)

Senate introduces separate legislation to address ministers voting absentee
The Fono conferees consisting of Senate and House members failed again yesterday to agree on final language of legislation that would allow American Samoans in the military to register and vote absentee for local elective offices. (read more)

Senate approves resolution calling for suspension of 50 cent hike slated for May
Senators approved yesterday a Senate Concurrent Resolution requesting that U.S. Sen. Edward Kennedy and Rep. George Miller "apply their efforts" in order "to suspend imposition of the $0.50 per hour" effective May 25 for American Samoa. (read more)
