Pago Pago, AMERICAN SAMOA — The man facing multiple charges for illegal possession of weapons and drugs entered a 'not guilty' plea during arraignment yesterday morning in District Court.

Samuel Gaisoa is scheduled for a pretrial conference on February 28, 2019.

He is represented by private attorney Talaimalo Marcellus Uiagalelei and prosecuting the case is Assistant Attorney General Laura Garvey.

The charges against Gaisoa stem from an incident late last year, when cops executed two search warrants at his Tafuna office and Kokoland residence. Methamphetamine and marijuana were allegedly discovered at Gaisoa's office while a cache of weapons and ammunition were allegedly confiscated from his home. The searches were conducted while Gaisoa and his family were off island.

Last Friday, District Court Judge Fiti Sunia found probable cause to bind the case against Gaisoa over to High Court.
