Pago Pago, AMERICAN SAMOA — The ASG Treasury Department is releasing today, June 30, tax refunds under Batch #12 for just over $2.01 million.

According to ASG Treasurer, Ueligitone Tonumaipe’a, this tax refund batch is for taxpayers who filed between Apr. 6 to June 2nd and with mailing addresses because they will receive their checks in the mail.

Taxpayers without a mailing address can pick up their checks at the Treasury’s Distributing Office on the ground floor of the A.P. Lutali Executive Office Building in Utulei.

The public is reminded that American Samoa is still operating under the COVID-19 state of emergency and therefore social distancing and face masks are highly encouraged, he said.

Of the total refund checks — $939,737 is for local and more than $1.07 million for the Additional Child Tax Credit (ACTC), which is funded by the US Internal Revenue Service.

If you were expecting a tax refund and didn’t get it in the mail or at the Disbursing Office, please visit the Tax Office and have the following documents on hand: copy of tax return; valid form of identification and social security card — and also for your spouse if married filing jointly.

Batch #12 brings into the local economy a total amount of refunds issued so far to more than $14.94  million — with over $8.79 million in ACTC and more than $5.25 million in local refunds, says Tonumaipe’a.

To assist with tracking refunds, Tonumaipe’a reminds taxpayers to always keep in mind their filing date, and batch number, as disbursement of checks is based on this information.
