Colleen Vou graduates and is commissioned as 2nd Lieutenant

Colleen Azizes Vou accepting her citation

Murray, KENTUCKY — Colleen Azizes Vou, who hails from the village of Mapusaga Fou is scheduled to graduate from Murray State University in Kentucky with a Bachelor of Integrated Studies in Military Science on May 14, and will be commissioned as a 2nd Lieutenant in the U.S. Army.

Her parents are Matauaina and the late Tony Vou. She is the only girl raised with 4 brothers; Tino, Rimoni, Alesaga, and Tauete and the 29-year old is also a Mom with a beautiful daughter, Vera Purcell.

A graduate of Voc-Tech High School, Ms. Vou served 4 years in the regular army and is now transitioning from enlisted to officer.

Her commissioning ceremony where she will be pinned as a Second Lieutenant into the United States Army Armor Corps is scheduled for May 12, 2022. She will be pinned by her daughter and her Second Lieutenant Silver Dollar first salute will be honored towards her older brother, SSG Rimoni Vou, who is also an active duty soldier. Second Lieutenant Vou wants to dedicate this milestone accomplishment to her late father, Tony Vou.

 “I was fortunate enough to be accepted into the Murray State University ROTC and was welcomed into the family right away. Murray State ROTC has instilled in me a strong sense of devotion and teamwork and has given me both physical and mental training. All of the Military Science instructors have taught me a lot about leadership, but most significantly, they have shaped me into the best soon-to-be officer in the Army,” Ms. Vou said.
