Samoa plans to increase departure tax at Faleolo

Using Faleolo International Airport (pictured) to travel out of Samoa will soon cost you more. The current departure tax of $40 is most likely to increase to $65 if Cabinet approves the plan. Speaking to the Samoa Observer, Chief Executive Officer for Airport Authority, Magele Hoe Viali, str
essed that it’s early stages yet and the plan has not been submitted to Cabinet.
“We had a consultation with all the airlines in Samoa just to discuss this plan,” Magele said. The idea, he said, is to include the departure tax in the cost of the traveling ticket just like New Zealand and many other countries.
