“IT’S FOR EVERYONE…”

Dear Editor,

Talofa lava. It’s been a while since I’ve voiced my concerns with the Political Corruptions going on within our government. I was also advised (sometimes threatened) by some, not to discuss such matters for it’s “Sensitive Information” and regarding High Government Officials.

But, as President John F. Kennedy at times quoted in his speeches saying, “The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is that good men do nothing”. Thus, I will continue to voice my concerns until Kingdom Come.

Recently, I read in Samoa News, an article about what the LBJ Hospital Chairman Mase Akapo said, “The Island Referral Program is also for “them”. Let’s define who “them” are…High Government Authorities with High Government Salaries and great government benefits, Living Government Luxury, Who can “Afford” their medical treatments, yet, snatch-away the little that Uncle Sam has to offer the “common people”.

Mr. Mase Akapo, for someone of your standard, I would say this to you, “Shame on you”.

When I was a Security Officer at LBJ Hospital in the past years, I’ve seen and felt the hurt of the People, why? Because low-income families were not given this opportunity, when they were in need of it. Most of them were turned down by whatever reason given them, in which most were told that it’s “too expensive” or, they clearly “could not afford it”. The “ones” that were approved were either “related to” or “connected to” someone higher within the government.

I have an uncle currently in need of medical treatment and is awaiting his approval for the program, and like many, I pray that his approval is granted. Clearly after reading this article because I find it “sickening” that you folks are doing this to my People – low-income families that are trying, his chances are next to ‘nothing’.

It’s folks like you that are giving the Lolo & Lemanu Administration a bad name!

Respectfully — “Stop It! Enough is Enough”!

Disgusted,

Masunu Leala Jr.
