ASPA & ASNOC to team up for Manu’a clean up

American Samoa Power Authority will again be teaming up with one of the commissions within the American Samoa National Olympic Committee for another major clean up, and this time for the Manu’a Islands. The project is dubbed ‘Love Your Coast.’

In a June 16 letter, ASPA executive director Utu Abe Malae informed Carl Sagapolutele Floor Sr., chairman of the ASNOC’s Sports and Environment Commission that the power authority is pleased to partner with them for the clean up in Manu’a and “at the same time promote sports for the youth.”

“This event is a fine example of good community spirit and an opportunity to promote fitness for all,” Utu said, noting that ASPA will secure travel to Manu’a for the clean up team, who will be working with ASPA crew based in Manu’a in coordinating the clean up efforts.

At this point, the clean up efforts will most like be the week before the Manu’a Flag Day, which is on July 17.

Two weeks ago, the Sports and Environment Commission teamed up with ASPA for a major clean up of the Pala Lagoon, which also underwent another clean up yesterday carried out by the same groups.
