The Vikings are the returning American Samoa High School Athletics Association Varsity Football Champions; the Warriors are who they defeated to get that championship; and that’s the first game of this year’s 2015- 16 ASHSAA Football season, set to be played today at the Veterans Memorial Stadium, in Iliili, at 4 p.m. — Faga’itua Vikings vs. Tafuna Warriors. It’s the only game on the schedule.

Going into the game, both teams have established traditions of playing to win, which happens to include a lot of championships. They are each known as the team to beat during the regular season and both are usually in the playoffs, but once in awhile — only one will make it. That’s called an “anomaly”.
