Congressman Faleomavaega honors military

Washington, D.C.Congressman Faleomavaega is observing Memorial Day by remembering the men and women who died in military service for the United States.

“On this solemn occasion, I wish to pay tribute to our military men and women and their families for their great and noble service to our nation,” Faleomavaega said.  “Many have paid the ultimate sacrifice fighting for our freedom.  We must never forget our fallen brothers and sisters.”

“As a Vietnam veteran, I am especially grateful for the sons and daughters of American Samoa who have also served, fought and died in record numbers to preserve our freedom and liberty.

This Memorial Day, I hope we will pause to remember them and pray for the families they left behind.”

“I cannot forget them.  Nothing has been more difficult for me than when I have accompanied some of our fallen heroes back home to American Samoa.  Since Iraq, the pictures of those who have fallen hang in my Washington office, as they and their families will always have a special place in my heart.  I salute them, and all those who, like them, gave their all for us.”

“I am proud of our military men and women and associate myself with these words from President John F. Kennedy:  ‘Let every nation know, whether it wishes us well or ill, that we shall pay any price, bear any burden, meet any hardship, support any friend, oppose any foe to assure the survival and the success of liberty.’”

“To all those who have and do assure the survival and success of liberty, I honor you every day and on Memorial Day.  God bless you and God bless the U.S.A.,” Congressman Faleomavaega concluded.
