Cool Stuff: Happy Carter Family Spirit in Hawaii

The Carter Family of Atlanta, Georgia

Honolulu, HAWAII — While the Territory rejoices at the arrival of the most recent repatriation flight, we all face daily challenges we never would have dreamed of one year ago.

Hardly any shops or restaurants are open at Honolulu's airport — which means thousands of hardworking folks lost their jobs.

Traveling now is a very sobering experience.  You need to fend for yourself in advance to secure food, beverages and the always delightful Covid-19 Test.

Fa'afetai tele to the Carter Family, who brought great happiness to departure lounge passengers by proudly parading in with their vibrant Disney Aulani Hotel techie "haku's".

It was hard to see other passengers smile, behind their required masks, but guaranteed Cool Stuff saw a twinkle, and a few tears in their eyes.  Cool Stuff was one of the teary guys.

We absolutely positively must embrace more spontaneous happiness in our lives.  We Coolios salute the Carter Family as the "Cool Stuff Family of the Month."

In the islands our remoteness has given us a bit more domestic freedom and safety than much of the US Mainland.  It has come at a severe emotional and economic cost... but remember, we are navigating unchartered waters.  Please forgive all who chose poorly or were short of patience.

Bless Gov. Lemanu Peleti Mauga, Lt. Gov. Talauega Eleasalo Va’alele Ale and the Fono to lead with continued prudent thoughtfulness.
