Cool Stuff: Lume Cubes, Pro Results, Mini Sized

The Lume Cube

Honolulu, HI — My Lume Cubes fly on my drones, provide interview setup lighting for my TV news/documentary production, with adapter walk around attached to my iPhone (pictured above), they can slide on my Nikon DSLR, so one set essentially does it all (ok, I bought 2 sets in case I have to light up Fatu ma Futi in the back, with this week’s new Miss American Samoa on the beach in the foreground).

In the bad old days (before the birth of Lume Cubes) I carried heavy lighting stands, reflective dish light mounts, delicate blue daylight temperature light bulbs - a nightmare - and completely contradicted by today’s unforgiving airline weight restrictions.

Now, flexible Gorilla Pods, as above, make a perfect adjustable stand, amounting to less than 3 pounds with Lume Cubes, compared to 23 pounds of clanging metal nonsense in the past.

Lume Cubes are waterproof, intensity is completely adjustable, and can be controlled manually or remotely by Bluetooth and... drumroll please: are only 1 1/2” square. Sheer absolute genius, Mates.

For we island folks that worry about tala, they are only $79 each, a happy price knowing they will last, take a beating, and can also be used for emergency lighting in the next cyclone, tsunami, or when you forget to pay ASPA your bill on time.

We will bring you more updates of Lume Cubes as we put them on drones, in interviews, and in dingy international low end hotels as we search for the bathroom. (Remember, we only get that new minimum wage scale).

A COOL STUFF TRIBUTE:

Bless you Utu Abe Malae.  RIP brother.  A true inspiration for good.
