Gale Watch canceled for Tutuila & Aunu’u

The National Weather Service (NWS) office at the Pago Pago International Airport is reporting Saturday morning that Tropical Depression 05f was located about 75 miles north of Tutuila or about 57 miles northwest of Manu’a, moving south-southeast slowly.

An area of gale force winds from the center up to 100 miles to the north and east quadrants will move with the system through tonight.

For Tutuila and Aunu’u, the Gale Watch was cancelled as of 9:30 a.m., while a small craft advisory remains in effect. The Gale Watch is still in effect for the Manu’a islands.

The Weather Service reports that today Tutuila and Aunu’u can expect southeast winds 17 to 28 mph with higher gusts and frequent showers including isolated thunderstorms through tonight.  

Sunday through Tuesday the southwest wind speeds will remain the same and then will turn west Sunday night. You can expect numerous showers through midweek with wind speeds beginning to diminish on Wednesday.
