Hawaiian Air waives change fees this week due to weather issues

Hawaiian Airlines will waive certain fees and charges for its flights on Thursday and Friday as a hurricane and a tropical storm are both heading to the Hawai’i Islands, where residents are stocking up on bottled water and other emergency supplies.

The airline, however, advises its customers to check online with www.hawaiianairilnes.com for the latest updates on scheduled flights.  Hawaiian’s next scheduled flight between Honolulu and Pago Pago is this Friday.

Forecasters in Honolulu say Hurricane Iselle could make landfall by Thursday and Tropical Storm Julio could hit three days later.

In a statement issued yesterday, the airline said that effective immediately, Hawaiian would waive reservation change fees and differences in fares for customers who need to change their travel plans because of the two storm systems.

Customers holding tickets for travel on Hawaiian flights on Aug. 7 or Aug. 8 will be permitted to change their reservation without charge provided that: Ticket was issued on or before Aug. 4, 2014, and affected flight is scheduled for travel on August 7 or 8, 2014.

Flight changes must be made by Hawaiian’s personnel in its reservations department or at the airport. For more information please call the local Hawaiian office at 699-1875.
