A new Miss American Samoa will be crowned tonight

Pago Pago, AMERICAN SAMOA — The official kick-off for this year’s Miss American Samoa pageant activities started this past weekend. A sacrament meeting was held this past Sunday, Sept. 22nd at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, Pava’ia’i 2nd ward, home to outgoing Miss American Samoa, Magalita Johnson.

It was the Pago West Stake presidency that delivered Sunday’s message, while the Pava’ia’i 2nd Ward Relief Society delivered the lesson, and provided the refreshments. Paradise Pizza sponsored the Sunday toana'i.

The night before, on Saturday, Sept, 21st, the contestants, along with their sponsors, family members, and friends, were treated to a VIP dinner at Tradewinds Hotel. Earlier in the day, the contestants took to the streets for the annual float parade which culminated at the Fagatogo Marketplace.

This year, Tautua Mo Oe (Frank Gaisoa and family, Windows Plus, and Beverage Plus) has stepped up as the GOLD sponsor for the pageant, which will be held tonight at the ASCC Multi-Purpose Auditorium.
