Washington, D.C. — Congresswoman Uifa’atali Amata is honoring the U.S. Army Reserve on Sunday April 23 for its 115 years of service to the nation, and thanking all the Army Reserve, past and present, especially those in American Samoa.

“Happy 115th birthday to the United States Army Reserve!” said Congresswoman Amata. “Since 1908, these soldiers have patriotically served in the Army Reserve, and today, there are over 200,000 soldiers and civilians with the Reserve in 2,000 units spanning 20 time zones. American Samoa is always well represented throughout the Armed Forces, with even higher numbers in the U.S. Army, which recruits strongly in our territory. We take special thought and gratitude for our own Toa o Samoa serving in the Army Reserve right here in our territory. They are ‘Ready Now! Shaping Tomorrow.’

“Our people have built a strong and honorable military tradition. Our excellent Service Members everywhere are a great force for freedom, peace, security and stability in many places, including here in the vast Pacific region. They are necessary and called upon both in times of war and peace. We thank and honor all who serve, with this day especially about the Army Reserve, and may God bless each one.”
