A 75-year old male is the latest Am Samoa victim of COVID-19
Pago Pago, AMERICAN SAMOA — LBJ Medical Center has reported a new COVID-19 related death, bringing the fatality total to 18 since the first death was reported on Mar. 22, according to officials who participated in yesterday’s COVID-19 Task Force briefing.
And the latest fatality is a 75-year old male, according to LBJ’s presentation at the briefing.
This is the same information presented by the Health Department, which also reported 92 new positive cases as of Apr. 11, with the total cumulative of 5,475 since the community outbreak was first recorded on Feb. 21. Yesterday’s briefing also reported there are about 1,712 active cases.
The Manu’a islands remains COVID free, according to DoH data, which shows that Tafuna village continues to have the highest number of positive cases, as there are people still around who are not observing masking and social distancing in stores, despite the urging of store clerks.
