Pago Pago,  AMERICAN SAMOA — A different kind of aeto—this one from the business world—landed in Pago Pago last Friday to show its support for the village’s mighty Aeto fautasi. Representatives of Aeto Insurance arrived to officially present a monetary donation to help the crew prepare as they defend their championship title in tomorrow’s Flag Day Fautasi Race, weather permitting.

Management and staff of Aeto Insurance handed over a $3,000 donation and caps for the crew, pledging their full support to the longboat that shares their name. The contribution comes as the crew finalizes its preparations for what is expected to be one of the most competitive races in recent years.

According to Aeto Insurance General Manager Arieta Malielegaoi, the company has always felt a strong connection to the Pago Pago fautasi. She explained that the business was originally established in Pago Pago in 2008 before relocating to its current headquarters in Pavaʻiaʻi. Because of those roots, the founders chose the name Aeto in honor of the famed longboat that has represented the village for generations.

Malielegaoi said the donation is a way for the company to “give back to the village where we first began,” supporting their namesake as it prepares to take on the seas once again.

Aeto Insurance Company in Pavaʻiaʻi is a locally based general insurance provider that has operated in American Samoa since 2008, offering auto, home, business, and construction‑related coverage.

It was founded to meet the territory’s growing need for local, accessible insurance services and is backed by a reinsurance program through Lloyd’s of London, giving it the financial stability required for major claims.

Aeto Insurance Company has grown into one of American Samoa’s most recognizable local insurers, building its reputation on accessibility, fast claims handling, and a focus on community needs.

Aeto Fautasi skipper Ailao Tualaulelei thanked the Aeto general manager and her staff for the kind donation noting that it would certainly help in their preparations to defend their championship title on the high seas tomorrow.
