Pago Pago, AMERICAN SAMOA — As the number of Hawaiian Airlines flights are now back at twice a week, the Department of Port Administration has resumed charging for parking at the public parking lot at Pago Pago International Airport as well as for luggage carts.

Lt. Gov. Talauega Eleasalo Ale, confirmed at last Thursday’s news conference that there are now two weekly Hawaiian Airlines flights between Honolulu and Pago Pago on Mondays and Thursdays. And an ASG official told Samoa News early this week that with the busy travel months now in session, there is always a possibility of adding a third weekly flight based on the demand.

In a notice released over the weekend, Port Administration acting director Tumua Matu’u announced that effective July 4 — this past Monday — Pago Pago International Airport will resume charging vehicles parking at the main public parking area. Vehicle parking fees remain at $3 per vehicle “and will be enforced on Hawaiian Airlines flight nights”, with a ticket stub issued as proof of payment.

For airport workers, there’s a designated parking area, which is only accessed with a SIDA badge presented to the Airport Law Enforcement Officer on duty. Those needing the badge must have their managers contact the airport supervisor.

Also effective July 4, the airport will resume charging for rental of luggage carts in the arrival area, and the rental charge remains at $4 per cart.
