Pago Pago, AMERICAN SAMOA — Republican Party of American Samoa Chairman Taulapapa Will Sword on Wednesday announced that National Committeewoman Uifa’atali Amata was elected last week Friday by the Republican National Committee as one of the eight members of the Committee on Site Selection for the 2024 National Convention.

“I believe this is the first time a member of the RNC from a Territory has been honored to be asked to serve on this prestigious committee,” said Chairman Taulapapa.

The Site Selection Committee is charged with the responsibility over the next several months of reviewing bids by cities hoping to host the National Convention, which will bring 50,000+ people and millions of dollars of revenue into the Convention location.

Added Chair Taulapapa, “The choice of what city will host our Convention is one of the most important functions of the RNC because it can make a big difference in who will win a close election.”

American Samoa has three Members on the 168-member Committee and the Territory has equal standing with States, including a full vote in all matters.
