Washington, D.C. — Congresswoman Uifa’atali Amata on Tuesday attended a Members-only Classified Briefing to inform Members of Congress more fully of the developments in Afghanistan, and U.S. efforts.

“Although the content of the briefing cannot be discussed publicly, it was helpful insight into this extremely serious situation, the ongoing response by the Pentagon and State Department, and the pressing needs of Americans and allies there,” said Congresswoman Amata.

“My office and I will continue to monitor the situation 24/ 7 to make sure that all of our Toa o Samoa are safely evacuated. I believe strongly the United States must be committed to getting every American out, along with close friends, allies, and those most endangered. We know our brave Service Members are able and willing to secure the area and do all they are asked to do to save lives, as they have proven throughout the years of U.S. involvement in Afghanistan. This is the most urgent issue facing the nation right now, and we must respond fully without delay to bring everyone to safety.”
