Washington, D.C. — Congresswoman Aumua Amata is expressing support for the call for an economic stimulus effort, and appreciates President Trump’s specific inclusion of “states and territories” in his speech Wednesday evening, as the country continues to take various steps to limit the coronavirus.

“A lot has happened in a short time, as the World Health Organization declared a global pandemic, major sports and music events are being canceled, flights from Europe are being limited, and even the U.S. Capitol is canceling visitor tours for now,” said Aumua Amata.

“The national economy has been performing well for some time, but the coronavirus is a major disruption, affecting airlines, hotels, venues, restaurants, and more. I support calls for an economic stimulus to help people through it, and any such stimulus must include the territories.”

“Just last week, Washington came together to pass coronavirus health funds, so we know successful bipartisan activity is possible in a time like this,” continued Congresswoman Amata. “I appreciate the efforts of so many from the CDC and elsewhere to keep people informed. Let’s keep them in our prayers, along with the Vice President’s team of scientists and doctors, and our own health professionals.”
