ASCC receives Community Facility Disaster Grant
Pago Pago, AMERICAN SAMOA — Congresswoman Uifa’atali Amata congratulates the American Samoa Community College (ASCC) upon receiving notice of a federal grant of $282,335 for the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA). This Community Facility Disaster Grant is to replace equipment and furniture damaged during July 2022 flooding.
“Congratulations to President Dr. Rosevonne Pato (pictured with Congresswoman Amata) for her leadership and ensuring that ASCC was able to obtain this helpful grant to serve our educational community,” said Congresswoman Amata. “Thank you to USDA for recognizing this need and providing this funding at Dr. Pato’s request to replace these damaged items. Supporting the education of our students is a priority, and we appreciate everyone at ASCC.”
Since the flooding, the community college continued operations with damaged equipment, but new equipment from this grant will support the Teacher Education Department, the Financial Aid Office, the Admissions Office, and the Institutional Effectiveness Division.
Federal agencies supply grants through the administering programs that are created legislatively by Congress, then funded through yearly appropriations legislation.
