ASDOE seeks input on return to the classroom
Pago Pago, AMERICAN SAMOA — The local Education Department (ASDOE) invites public input in the development of its American Rescue Plan (ARP) Elementary and Secondary School Emergency Relief (ESSER) plan for the safe return of in-person instruction.
“We need your feedback,” said ASDOE in a public message on its website (www.doe.as) which also has the link where a person may provide input as well as on its Facebook page.
ASDOE’s invitation for input includes family members or advocate for migratory children, English language learners, children with disabilities, children experiencing homelessness, children in foster care, children experiencing economic disadvantages, LGBTQ, children in the justice system, and all community members.
“COVID-19 has impacted all of us and has interrupted our students’ learning, and your input is crucial in order to create and foster an equitable learning community across American Samoa,” said ASDOE.
For each state and territory to receive this federal money, they have to submit to the US Department of Education a plan — which provides description and information on how the money will be used.
According to USDOE, each state/territory plan will be published on its website to ensure transparency. (More details on www.oese.ed.gov)
