Pago Pago, AMERICAN SAMOA — On Christmas Day, residents in the Bay Area experienced low water pressure issues - particularly in Pago Pago/Satala from the Asuega residence to the Satala power plant.

According to the American Samoa Power Authority (ASPA), a mango tree fell on the main line, which feeds all families along the mountain side of these villages. The fallen tree caused damage to the main water line by the DYWA Pago Community Center.

At 9 a.m., ASPA said crew members were carrying out a temporary fix to get the water back on, but a permanent fix would be done later that same night. But ASPA got the job faster than expected. By 1p.m. that same day, repairs were complete and water lines were being filled to get the water pressure back up. Everything was back to normal in a matter of hours.

“We apologize for the low water pressure issues in the Pago to Satala area and further east,” said ASPA in a social media statement. “Thanks again for your patience.”
