Pago Pago, AMERICAN SAMOA — The South Pacific Cruise Alliance provided an invaluable opportunity for the American Samoa Visitors Bureau (ASVB) to meet up with key players in the cruise industry in Miami, Florida — resulting in the successful addition of an extra cruise ship for this year.

Arriving in Pago Pago on April 20, just nine days after the Seatrade Cruise Global event April 9-11, 2024, in Miami, Florida, will be the ‘Seabourn Pursuit’ for its maiden voyage. Originally bound for Niue, the ship changed course during transit due to docking restrictions, making American Samoa its new destination.

ASVB invites interested vendors to support this event before the sign-up deadline of Tuesday, April 16. Vendors can contact the ASVB Office at 633-9805 or email info@americansamoa.travel.  This marks American Samoa's first occasion hosting three consecutive cruise ships, with vessels scheduled to arrive on April 18, 19, and now the 20 of April.

During Seatrade, ASVB engaged with itinerary planners from various renowned cruise lines, securing American Samoa's inclusion in upcoming South Pacific itineraries. This underscores the ongoing efforts to promote the destination as a premier cruise destination. Additionally, ASVB collaborated with Samoa to promote the 2-Samoas full experience, enhancing the cultural and natural attractions available to cruise passengers in the region.

At the conference, ASVB also participated in sessions addressing climate change and sustainable tourism, aligning its strategies with global movements toward environmental stewardship. Insights gained from emerging markets, such as exhibition cruises, further inspired ASVB's future initiatives.

This successful participation at Seatrade Cruise Global 2024 builds upon the re-opening of American Samoa's borders to cruise ships. Through proactive partnership and a commitment to sustainable tourism, ASVB aims to set a benchmark for industry excellence, showcasing the rich cultural heritage and natural beauty of American Samoa to a global audience.
