Bedridden man dies in house fire
Pago Pago, AMERICAN SAMOA — A 78-year-old bedridden man was killed in a fire, Tuesday morning in Ili’ili.
This was confirmed by police officers at the scene.
The man’s daughter however managed to escape the house before it was overtaken in flames.
Firefighters responded to the call for assistance, unfortunately they were unable to save the man.
The fire burned the residence to the ground, along with a pick-up truck that was parked in the garage.
A senior police officer told Samoa News, on the condition of anonymity, that a criminal investigation is underway to determine how the fire started.
“It doesn’t appear to be foul play involved but it is too early to tell.
We will have to wait for the full police report on this,” said the officer.
