Pago Pago, AMERICAN SAMOA — Fa’amoemoega Lili’o and Canriham Estimani had their cases bound over to the High Court on charges of burglary, stealing and trespassing.

Each of the defendants is being held with bail set at $5,000 each.

According to the government’s case the incident occurred last month. A family filed a complaint that their vehicle was broken into and a wallet was stolen, which contained ID cards; food stamp card, drivers license, Social Security card and credit & debit cards.

It’s alleged one of the cards was used to make a purchase in two separate stores in Tafuna.

Police requested video footage from one of the stores, which revealed the defendants who were using the victim’s card to purchase 5 cases of tuna for $84.95, 1 case of Corn Beef for $125.95, and 2 sodas for $1.10.

“Both individuals were familiar because we have prior complaints regarding these individuals who constantly stole single items from their stores.”

It’s alleged police observed the defendants behind the TSM Store in Tafuna where they were apprehended.

According to the criminal complaint, Etimani allegedly admitted stealing a wallet with multiple cards inside and gave it to his friend Lili’o and that’s when they used the cards for their shopping.

Etimani’s statement was corroborated by co-defendant Lili’o.

According to Lili’o, Etimani gave him the wallet.

According to the court affidavit, all of the victim’s property was recovered and returned to the victim and that nothing was missing from the wallet.
