Celebrating 117 years of strength and service
Washington, D.C. – Congresswoman Uifa’atali Amata is honoring the U.S. Army Reserve for its birthday (April 23), celebrating 117 years of strength and service to the nation, and the cause of freedom.
“Happy 117th birthday celebration to the Army Reserve, and especially to all of our own Toa o Samoa Army Reserve Soldiers serving in our islands,” said Congresswoman Amata. “We’re proud of you, and take special thought and appreciation for you on this milestone day for the Army Reserve. Today, we also thank all the Army Reserve serving throughout the country. Together, you make the United States stronger through your patriotic dedication. Ready now!”
The Army Reserve began in 1908, currently with over 170,000 soldiers, greatly strengthening the Army through specializations, maneuver support, and mobilization capacity. The Reserve is in 50 states and five territories, and Reserve Soldiers are deployed in 23 countries, and another 11,000 civilians serve in connection with the Reserve.
“The people of American Samoa have a strong and honorable tradition in the U.S. military,” concluded Amata. “We thank and honor all who serve, and our many military families, and today we think specially of our Army Reserve, in wishing them a happy birthday!”
