CHRISTINA KOCH — HISTORY IN THE MAKING

Am Samoa flag aboard spacecraft

Pago Pago, AMERICAN SAMOA — Christine Koch, who is the first female astronaut aboard the Artemis II flight around the moon was once the station chief at the American Samoa observatory, during which she met her husband Robert Koch who was working as the Dept of Commerce’s GIS Manager.
In one of her missions, she took our American Samoa flag out to space. She may not have our Samoan blood or heritage but her spirit and heart is truly Samoan. Godspeed to her and may she be an inspiration to many of our young Samoan girls! Your friends from Pago are so proud of you!
