Pago Pago, AMERICAN SAMOA — Through a series of general memorandums, Governor Lemanu P. S. Mauga has made the following appointments:
ACTING PUBLIC DEFENDER
Rev. Asaua Falaniko Fuimaono has been appointed Acting Public Defender on September 13, 2023. His appointment follows the passing of former Public Defender Dave Vargas, on Sept. 13th at his home. Rev. Asaua was an attorney in private practice and includes work with Legal Aid.
BOARD MEMBERS FOR AMERICAN SAMOA TELECOMMUNICATIONS AUTHORITY
On September 20, 2023 the following members were appointed to the ASTCA Board: Alex Sene, as chairman; and as general members Sen. Utu Sila Poasa, Autuatasi Iremia Seigafo, Seumalo Sofa, Ernie T. Seiuli, Taiulagi Mauga and Tuni Tauiliili.
All will serve until Jan. 2025.
EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR OF THE OFFICE OF VOCATIONAL REHABILITATION
On September 21, 2023, the governor appointed Delaney D. Tilo as Executive Director of the Office of Vocational Rehabilitation, following the selection of its former head, Poumele Pete Galea’i as one of the senators of Manu’a.
She was a policy advisor at the Governor’s Office since August 2021.
She holds a PhD in organizational leadership from the Chicago School of Professional Psychology, and a Masters in Curriculum and Instruction, and a Bachelors in Dual Elementary and Special Education from the University of Hawaii, Manoa.
MOSOOI FESTIVAL OF ARTS AND HUMANITIES ON SEPTEMBER 30
ABLE, the Agency for Better Living Endeavors, will once again be the lead for the local Mosooi Festival of Arts and Humanities on September 30, 2023.
Last year’s highly successful inaugural festival is expected to be exceeded this year according to ABLE.
The one day & evening festival comprises events that include an Art Outreach Workshop that will have local artists sharing their skills and creative designs with the community, a Rotarac Swap Meet, an open Karaoke mike towards the late afternoon, and during the evening a dance group from Samoa — as well as local entertainers will perform.
