CAREER AND TECHNICAL EDUCATION SPIRIT WEEK
Career and Technical Education (CTE) Spirit Week is scheduled from February 26-29, 2024.
This occasion serves as a platform for the CTE community to unite and highlight the invaluable contributions of CTE in preparing students for prosperous futures. It is a moment to recognize the accomplishments of CTE partners across various sectors and to showcase the innovative practices and opportunities offered by CTE programs through engaging in a Spirit Week activity.
Moreover, it is a time for educators, students, parents, and industry professionals to collaborate in raising awareness about the significance of CTE and its role in equipping students with the necessary skills, knowledge, and experiences to excel in the workforce.
By doing so, we not only promote the importance of CTE programs but also inspire students to explore CTE pathways as viable options for their future careers. This initiative aims to dispel stereotypes and misconceptions surrounding CTE, highlighting the diverse array of opportunities available and the potential for long-term success and fulfillment. ANN MARIEL VILLANUEVA NAMED TO THE DEAN'S LIST
Ann Mariel Villanueva of American Samoa, and a member of the Class of 2026 was named to the dean's list at Tufts University for the Fall 2023 semester. Dean's list honors at Tufts University require a semester grade point average of 3.4 or greater.
Tufts University, located on campuses in Boston, Medford/Somerville and Grafton, Massachusetts, and in Talloires, France, is recognized among the premier research universities in the United States. Tufts enjoys a global reputation for academic excellence and for the preparation of students as leaders in a wide range of professions. ZIYI YU MAKS DEAN'S LIST AT RIT
Ziyi Yu of American Samoa was named to the Dean's List at Rochester Institute of Technology for the fall semester of the 2023-2024 academic year. Yu is in the software engineering program.
Full-time degree-seeking undergraduate students are eligible for Dean's List if their term GPA is greater than or equal to 3.400; they do not have any grades of "Incomplete", "D" or "F"; and they have registered for, and completed, at least 12 credit hours.

TWO FROM AM SAMOA ENTER JOB CORPS

The Job Corps program was initially introduced in American Samoa around 1997, spearheaded by then House Speaker Nua Saoluaga, who appointed the late Afimutasi Gus Hannemann to oversee federal government affairs for the House leadership and manage the implementation of the Job Corps program in the territory.
Over the years, numerous students from American Samoa have successfully enrolled in and completed the Job Corps Program in Hawai'i, while others have pursued the program at centers on the mainland.
