HONORING DR. IOTAMO SALEAPAGA
compiled by Samoa News staff

Pago Pago, AMERICAN SAMOA — A resident of American Samoa is asking that in recognition of the life, distinguished service, and enduring contributions of Dr. Iotamo Saleapaga to the people of American Samoa, it is fitting that the territory honor his memory with a formal observance.

“We also honor the values he instilled in the next generation of medical professionals: empathy, courage, and relentless advocacy for the people whose lives he touched over the years.

“Above all, we remember his jovial spirit, personable manner, greeting each patient not as a number, but as a neighbor and a friend — bringing laughter, reassurance, and healing through both science and kindness.

Accordingly, the resident is requesting “that the flag of the United States of America and the flag of American Samoa be flown at half-staff at all government building, offices, and grounds throughout the Territory, beginning at sunrise on October 2nd, coinciding with funeral services and related observance for the late Dr. Iotamo Saleapaga.

TBAS CELEBRATES 10 YEARS OF SERVICE

In a statement from the Territorial Bank of American Samoa President and CEO, Owen Peery, he states that on Saturday, October 3, TBAS celebrates ten years of serving the islands of American Samoa. Ten years ago, he says, the bank was founded on a simple but powerful idea: that American Samoa deserves a bank of its own.

“A bank built here, owned by our people, and committed to the families, businesses, churches, and villages that make this territory home. Every deposit you have trusted us with, every loan that helped build a house or grow a business, and every visit to our branches has helped turn that idea into a lasting institution.

“Fa'aSamoa teaches us that we rise together, as one heart and as one aiga. That spirit has guided TBAS since its first day, and it will guide us through the decade ahead. We are honored to serve you, and we are excited about what we will build together.
