Covid-19: American Samoa governor self-isolates as a precaution

Pago Pago, AMERICAN SAMOA — American Samoa's governor is in quarantine after his trip to the US mainland.

Lolo Matalasi Moliga traveled to Washington State and Hawaii, two places with confirmed outbreaks of the Covid-19 coronavirus.

Seattle, where Lolo was for a medical appointment, is where the largest number of coronavirus deaths in the United States have occured.

The governor says he had medical checkups in both Seattle and Honolulu, but is self-quarantining at Government House in Pago Pago as a precaution.

KHJ news is reporting that Lolo said only two people will have access to him at Government House, a driver and a guard.

He would be communicating with the cabinet by phone or video teleconference.

The governor received a briefing from the Coronavirus Task Force via VTC.

Lolo has signed off on the Response and Action Plan on COVID-19 which the task force headed by his executive assistant Iulogologo Joseph Pereira, prepared.

Copies of the plan have been sent to DOI, Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, Department of Health and Human Services and Congresswoman Aumua Amata.

Lolo indicated that on Monday a new travel advisory would be issued with more stringent rules to protect the territory from the coronavirus pandemic.
