Pago Pago, AMERICA SAMOA — The American Samoa Democratic Party officially announced the launch of its community service initiative, “Tautua Ma Le Alofa”, a program dedicated to leading with the values of service (Tautua) and love (Alofa) for our community.

Each month, the Party identifies organizations and everyday American Samoans whose work uplifts our community — from doctors, nurses, and healthcare workers, to social workers overseeing women’s and children’s shelters. Through this initiative, we seek to recognize and support the tireless efforts of those who dedicate their lives to helping others.

Since the project’s soft launch in October, the Party has hosted community events including Halloween events for children and families and service projects supporting front-line workers at the Department of Public Works (DPW), Emergency Medical Services (EMS), Department of Human and Social Services (DHSS) and the maternity and pediatric wards of LBJ Hospital.

Chair Patrick “Tiʻa” Reid emphasized the importance of the initiative:

“Our Party represents the needs and interests of the working families of American Samoa. We believe that doing a little goes a long way and can make a real difference. This initiative is our way of saying thank you to the people who invest so much into their daily work, serving our communities with dedication and compassion. “Tautua Ma Le Alofa” reflects our values and commitment to giving back.”
