Pago Pago, AMERICAN SAMOA — The Tobacco Diabetes Program, under the Department of Health, recently visited Level 8 students at Lupelele Elementary School to discuss the impact of tobacco and vape products on their health. Through interactive discussions and activities, students learned about the risks of smoking and vaping and how these substances can affect their bodies and future.
One important fact shared was that the brain continues developing until around the age of 25, and exposure to nicotine during this time can interfere with normal brain growth and development.
