Pago Pago, AMERICAN SAMOA — The Health Department’s Leone Clinic is the new COVID-19 vaccination site, according to the latest DoH health advisory, and it joins the other sites already in place — A.P. Lutali Executive Office Building, Gov. Rex Lee Auditorium, Department of Youth and Women’s Affairs (DYWA) gym in Tafuna and Health Department’s Tafuna Health Clinic.

All five COVID-19 vaccination sites are open today and Friday this week from 8a.m to 3p.m. and DoH re-emphasized its ongoing message, “It’s time to Vaccinate...American Samoa” if you have not done so.

Both Pfizer and Moderna vaccines for first and second doses are available at all locations. Eligible population includes: individuals 16 years and older for the Pfizer and 18 years and older for Moderna vaccine. DoH plans to announced soon when it’s ready to vaccinate children 12 -15 years of age.

Reminders from DoH, if you are getting your first dose, bring your photo ID and hospital card. If you do not have a hospital card, bring two photo IDs. Bring your COVID-19 vaccine card if you are coming back for a second dose. If you cannot find your vaccine card, a new one will be provided for you if you bring your photo ID.  Individuals are reminded to let registration and nurses know if you have had a flu shot or any other shot in the past two weeks.

Meanwhile, Gov. Lemanu Peleti Palepoi Sialega Mauga, through a May 22 memorandum, appointed DoH deputy director Vesi Talalelei Fautanu, as acting health director until, DoH director Motusa Tuileama Nua returns to the territory from Honolulu.

The current memo supersedes the previous one, in which the governor appointed deputy director Farra Utu as acting director.
