Pago Pago, AMERICAN SAMOA — A car accident occurred on the night of June 27, 2023, on the Iliili public highway. A source at the Department of Public Safety, who wishes to remain anonymous, stated that the driver of the vehicle lost control  — flipping upside down after hitting the brick wall near the car wash place and Cecelia’s Restaurant, opposite of Cost U Less.

Samoa News was told by one of the restaurant’s staff that they called police for assistance when the accident occurred. The driver was apparently trapped inside the vehicle when the EMS and police arrived, and police helped remove the driver from the vehicle, who was then taken to the hospital, where the person remains in care. The driver is said to have been alone in the vehicle.

Calls to the DPS were unanswered as of press time. According to DPS earlier, the case is under investigation and they are unable to give out any information related to the accident, including if the accident is drug or alcohol related, the name of the driver/ victim and if there were others (passengers) in the vehicle.
