Drug raid in Leloaloa lands four men in jail; three have been charged
Pago Pago, AMERICAN SAMOA — Armed officers of the Vice and Narcotics Division of the Department of Public Safety conducted a drug raid on a family home in Leloaloa on Friday night.
Detectives executed a search warrant for illegal drugs and it landed four men behind bars.
This was confirmed by a senior police officer who is not authorized to speak to the media.
Samoa News reached out to Deputy Commissioners Foifua Jr Vaipuna and Terry Letuli but efforts were unsuccessful as of press time.
The officer said the four men have been charged with unlawful possession of a controlled substance.
“Four men were taken into custody on Friday night in Leloaloa however three men have been charged.”
The senior officer also confirmed that police also responded to a call in Utulei that led to the arrest of one man, who now faces charges of unlawful possession and unlawful possession with intent of distribution.
All those charged will appear virtually in the District Court today .
Two months ago, the Vice and Narcotics division raided two separate residences — one in the village of Petesa and simultaneously in Fagaima village.
Close to $5,000 cash, along with methamphetamine (meth), marijuana, and glass pipes, with a total street value of close to $10,000 were seized from those two locations.
