Pago Pago, AMERICAN SAMOA — The second round of Economic Impact Payments (EIP) — or stimulus checks, as part of the federal COVID Related Tax Relief Act, will be distributed in three batches, with the first-batch to be released next week, says ASG Treasurer Malemo Tausaga in a statement yesterday afternoon.

Malemo explained that the second round of EIPs is based on 2019 tax information filed with the ASG Tax Office in 2020 and will be released according to the filing dates:

•   First-batch will be released on Feb. 10th for those who filed between Jan. 1st to Mar. 4th, 2020. This batch will have 4,926 checks, totaling more than $10.08 million.

•   Second batch release date, Feb. 17th for those who filed between Mar. 5 to July 1, 2020. This batch will have 4995  check, which totals more than $5.73 million.

•   Batch 3 with 2,228 checks, totaling more than $1.62 million will be released Feb. 24th for those who filed between July 2 to Dec. 30, 2020.

Overall total of the three batches comes to more than $17.44 million, according to data released by ASG Treasury.

According to Malemo, taxpayers with valid mailing addresses on their 2019 tax return should expect their checks in the mail while those without mailing addresses are to pick up their checks from Treasury’s Disbursing Office at the A.P. Lutali Executive Office Building in Utulei.

Those who are picking up checks are reminded that use of face covering or mask and social distancing will be strictly enforced at the EOB.

“If you were expecting a check and did not receive one, please call or visit the Tax Office where they will assist you,” said Malemo.
