Flags flying at half staff honoring the late Senator HC Afoa Moega Lutu

Pago Pago, AMERICAN SAMOA — Lt. Governor Talauega E.V. Ale in a general memorandum has directed that the flags of the United States and American Samoa shall be flown at half-staff from sunrise today, Feb. 23, through sunset Saturday, Feb. 24, 2024. This symbol of reverence serves as a testament to the respect and gratitude held for former Senator HC Afoafouvale Leulumoega Fou Su’esu’e Lutu, who passed way on Dec. 14, 2023 at the age of 76.

“HC Afoa’s love and commitment to our Territory is highlighted throughout his many years of public service.”  He served the Territory as Representative for Maoputasi — District No. 7, Attorney General, and Senator for Maoputasi – District No. 6.

“His commitment to service the people of American Samoa will never be forgotten,” the memorandum said in part.
