Giving thanks for the work of the hospital, Pago Pago stake donates to LBJ
Pago Pago, AMERICAN SAMOA — The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints has come forward two weeks ahead of Thanksgiving Day celebration, November 23, 2023 — bringing donations to LBJ Hospital.
A presentation of bedding items from the Pago Pago Samoa Stake was made to the Hospital on Thursday November 9.
Leaders of the Pago Pago Samoa Stake and members took this opportunity to thank all at LBJ for the hard work they do in serving the community.
Stake President Michael Lavea Junior, said this program or Ministry — Light the World — is their way of doing things to help each other up and share this special time.
"We just like to give something to show our gratitude to all at LBJ hospital, no matter what denomination they are from.
"We'd like to thank the hospital for the wonderful work they do and to make things easier for their daily service.
"Happy Thanksgiving and Christmas day."
The Stake President also said, he knows there are other denominations doing the same, and they are also so grateful for all at the hospital.
Pago Pago Samoa Stake has nine Wards, and three Branches.
The gifts of Thanksgiving included more than 30 pillows, blankets and more, and all was contributed by the wards and branches of the stake of Pago Pago Samoa.
Doctor James Sunia, representing LBJ hospital management, said they're honored with the donation.
"This isn't the first time you give a helping hand to LBJ, you've done it several times before.
"We know you are always there for us, and we thank you from the bottom of our hearts.
